July 2005 and my mum bought me this book " The Reflexology Handbook" - That September I enrolled to study reflexology out of interest more than anything and thinking perhaps one day I will work as a reflexologist it certainly wasn’t in the immediate plans.
My first case study was a great success and the power of reflexology was something that still inspires me day on day.
It was the beginning of a journey that most likely led in some way to me to meeting you.
Over the past 20 years I have been honoured to support so many people through happy moments and challenging moments and the full spectrum of human experiences often times treating 3 generations of a family, something that I could never have planned or envisaged.
Over the past couple of years and in particular over the summer the circle of life journey has become very clear to me. I have been reminded of the lifetime, reason, season poem and how each connection has a different purpose.
I spent time this summer with one of my childhood friends mum, connecting with her while my friend was on holiday. It was a honour to be able to help out and connect with someone who I know dried many tears and cleaned up many a scratch.
Many of the clients that I have shared reflexology with during the pregnancies are now at a different stage of life and have reached out for treatments for their mothers or mother in laws and in some case fathers, aunts, uncles who have been navigating various challenges.
Over the summer I attended the funeral of a lady whom I had known since childhood and who I reconnected with through her daughter in law. The lady came for Reflexology a few times and it was lovely to hold space for someone who was certainly more familiar with caring for others than taking time out for herself she was also able to receive the comfort of the St Brigid’s healing blanket in her last few days here on earth. A reminder to us all of the importance of faith.
In the past few weeks I had another client reach out for reflexology for her mum, another woman who I have childhood memories of she had a local business and I remember going in when I was younger and then reconnected with her years later through her daughter.
Some of these experiences have reminded me of the book “Tuesday’s with Morrie” If you haven’t read it, it is worth a read.
This summer I have also attended the funeral of a young woman who's daughter did Relax Kids with me over 10 years ago, an amazing mummy who invested in her daughters emotionally wellbeing at a time when it wasn't really mainstream. I hope that those skills will support her daughter as she navigates the years ahead.
There have been hospital visits, house visits, beautiful connections and conversations. I was reminded of what an honour it is to do what I do and to have the trust and support of so many special people and to have shared the highs and lows with you. Thank you for inviting me to be part of your life journey.
To recognise my 20 year milestone and in gratitude for all the support I have received I am organising a very special event in Killeavy Castle Estate, it will be a bringing together of people that have influenced and inspired me over the past 20 years and I know it will be an inspiring day. I would love you to join me. I could have chosen a different type of fundraiser however I wanted to something that would have a lasting impact for others.
September is the perfect time to reset and refocus and this will be a great opportunity to do exactly this, I encourage you to “do something today that your future self will thank you for.”
The early bird tickets have ended however as a thank you for your support over the years please use the discount code CHANGE10 and you will be able to get the early bird price.
With Blessings & Gratitude
Joanne
